A couple of months ago, we learned that Sony would be releasing a “Super Mario Kart” for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, along with the release of a sequel.
Today, Sony announced that the new console version of the game, which is called Super Mario Run, is on the way.
The news is the latest blow to a game that was expected to launch in 2017, but has struggled to find its footing with players.
It’s also a big loss for Nintendo, which has a history of launching “Nintendo” games that aren’t quite Nintendo titles.
The news comes as the company prepares to unveil its new “Nintendo Switch” portable gaming system later this year, a device that is rumored to launch alongside a new console, codenamed NX.
