The NFL is still in the early stages of the season, but the debate over who will be the first to win the MVP award has taken center stage.
With just over three weeks until the league’s Feb. 14 game between the San Francisco 49ers and the New York Giants, fans have been asking the question.
The Broncos quarterback is the most recognizable name in the league.
He has a Super Bowl ring and a Super Football Hall of Fame ring, and has also won two Super Bowls with the Broncos.
But the most famous Broncos player has always been Peyton Manning, who has spent most of his career as a quarterback with the Denver Broncos.
He is the all-time leading passer in NFL history with 1,737 passing yards and 4,903 passing touchdowns.
While there have been some debate over whether the quarterback should be the MVP for the 2015 season, the decision was decided after the first four weeks of the regular season.
During the first two weeks of this season, Manning threw for 5,621 yards, but also rushed for 4,724 yards and caught 31 passes for 367 yards.
Manning has a career passer rating of 91.3 and a passer efficiency rating of 108.2.
His 10 interceptions and three fumbles are tied for the NFL record.
The voting for the MVP came down to two players: Peyton Manning and Drew Brees.
The most famous name on the list was Peyton Manning (3,979,624 yards, 1,066 TDs, 9.5 yards per attempt, 1.0 ypc, 10 INTs, 7 fumble recoveries).
Manning threw the game-winning touchdown pass to tight end Vernon Davis in the final seconds of the Broncos loss to the Minnesota Vikings in the Super Bowl.
The other two players were Drew Brees (2,634,826 yards, 2,938 TDs, 10.0 yards per try, 1 ypc and 5 INTs).
The New Orleans Saints quarterback has thrown for 2,063 yards, 6,732 passing yards, 17 touchdowns and three interceptions, but has also rushed 12 times for 56 yards and one touchdown.
The New England Patriots quarterback has been a Pro Bowler five times, but is the only player to have multiple Pro Bowls.
He has thrown a touchdown pass in four of his six starts.
He threw for 1,084 yards, 13 touchdowns and no interceptions in the Patriots win over the Denver Raiders.
He also rushed 10 times for 38 yards and a touchdown in the Broncos win over New England.
Brees has been one of the best players to play the game, but he has also been criticized for being too slow to finish drives.
His passing accuracy has been the main reason why the Denver and New England teams have been in the top two teams in passing percentage for the past six seasons.
Bears quarterback has completed 60 percent of his passes in the last three games, while Manning has completed 56 percent of the passes in those three games.
Brees has also faced the Broncos twice this season and completed 17 of 22 passes for 183 yards and two touchdowns.
