“Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens” is expected to be released in theaters this fall, but the next film in the franchise is currently on hold for the time being.
According to Variety, a new trailer released by Disney-owned Lucasfilm on Friday morning, “The Last Jedi,” is slated to be announced on Sunday, June 20.
The film is currently being produced by a team of director Justin Lin and writer/producer Rian Johnson, and is set to feature the return of Rey, Finn, Poe Dameron, Kylo Ren and Ben Solo, as well as a slew of new characters.
The trailer reveals that “The Force Awakens,” as well the next installment of the “Star Trek” franchise, “Starcraft,” will not be included in the new trailer.
Instead, “Episode VII: Force Awakens”‘s trailer will focus on “A New Hope,” which was originally slated to feature Finn, Luke, Leia and General Leia Organa, and it is rumored to feature Kylo.
